LCVH History

Los Caballos Veterinary Hospital is nestled in the Valle De Los Caballos in the wine country of Temecula, Ca. It is located adjacent to the Southern California Equestrian Center and is expanding to provide services to clients within a sixty mile radius of the hospital. The practice has existed for over thirty years and currently consists of three veterinarians. Our doctors provide medical and surgical care for all species of large animals, including: horses, cattle, camelids, pigs, sheep, goats and exotic large animal species. Each veterinarian in the practice brings individual experiences and specialty interests.
Los Caballos Veterinary Hospital was founded as an equine medical and surgical facility in 1970 by Dr. and Mrs. William Ommert. Inspired by innovation, Dr. Ommert was instrumental in pioneering equine inhalant anesthesia. He helped to revolutionize equine medicine by introducing the concept of hospitalized care for equine patients.

Dr. and Mrs. D. Kent Patton, in 1973 created a thriving large animal ambulatory medicine practice in the Winchester and Temecula area. Born and raised in Southern Colorado, Dr. Patton brought an unprecedented scope of knowledge, practicality, fairness and trustworthiness to his clients in the Inland Empire. For over thirty years, his wife Gail managed his practice. As the daughter of world renowned equine surgeon, Dr. O.R. Adams, and mother of four children, Mrs. Patton contributed a wealth of knowledge, experience, compassion and assistance to Dr. Patton's practice.
In 2005, Dr. Ommert's hospital and Dr. Patton's practice were combined by Dr. Patton's daughter and son-in-law Drs. Anita and Clint Dennison to form Los Caballos Veterinary Hospital, Inc.. The aim of this merger was to integrate the latest technology and innovation in ambulatory medicine and surgery with subpurb hospitalized care as means to provide unparalleled service to clients owning large animals in Southern California.
